Original Item: PE-57 Parts Kit
The PE 57 is a semi-automatic-only version of the Swiss military's Stgw 57 rifle, which was produced for civilian sale. The Stgw 57 was originally designed as a select-fire (semi-automatic and automatic) military rifle, and when soldiers could purchase their rifles upon retirement, they were converted to semi-automatic and called the "PE" (Privat Einzelfeuer or "private single fire") version. The PE 57 is essentially a modified civilian version of the original military rifle, which has been legally restricted to semi-automatic fire for the civilian market.
One of the finest battle rifles of the Cold War era, the Swiss Sturmgewehr 57 is an amazing example of Swiss design and production expertise. It features an innovative roller locking system with tilting support bars behind the rollers. The rollers are nearly twice of size of G3 rollers of the era. While it looks like a space gun from a sci-fi movie it has the traditional Swiss 'beer keg' charging handle from the late 1800s. From a design perspective it features a very brilliant ejector system built into the bolt head that levers the spent cases from the bolt face.
If you are into guns in the movies, these were in the ski chase scene in James Bond: Her Majesty's Secret Service
