One Spring Included
This Spring provides pressure to the Front and Rear Retaining Pawls in the feed block. Two are required in each assembly (1 for front and 1 for rear). The ends are closed and ground ensure smooth movement.
Over the years we've lost or broken a lot of these springs while working or MG34 Feed Blocks. We've also seen a lot of worn and rusted ones. The Retaining Pawl Spring is necessary to provide reliable pressure to the retaining pawls that keep the cartridges from 'backing out' of the feed assembly as they are being advanced through the system.
With a damaged retaining pawl spring, it will not provide reliable downward pressure on the retaining pawls resulting in cartridges rotating and/or backing out of the feeding system as it is attempting to advance the belt. Typically, you'll see a cartridge jammed in the system with either the tip or rear of the cartridge not seated in the feeding slot in the tray.
