Product Description
Bolt Hold-Open / Range Safety Device:
This part is critical for loading an MG42 semi auto since MG42s must be loaded with the bolt 'rearward' and there's not provision for holding the bolt rearward in the semi auto design.
Unlike the MG34, the MG42 feed pawl and transfer lever system advances the belt on both the forward and backward stroke of the bolt. For loading, the bolt must be retracted prior to closing the top cover with a belt and live round centered on the tray. If you try to load an MG42 with the bolt 'foward,' the system will bind. For XMG/MG34, the belt can be loaded into the gun with the bolt 'forward.'
How to use:
- Retract the bolt and insert this piece through the ejection port.
- Release the bolt forward to rest against it. This will allow you to change barrels and also signal that the XMG, MG34, or MG42 is SAFE.
- To remove, retract the bolt and it will fall to the ground.
