- The LS42 is noticeably shorter than the Laufschützer 34. It was soon replace by the Laufschützer 43 "dual purpose" carrier and is the least common of German WW2 barrel carriers.
- Original German marked Laufschützer 42s are quite rare since they were quickly replace by the Laufschützer 43 (dual purpose) barrel carrier which worked with both MG34 & MG42 barrels. This came out of Yugoslav arsenals and repainted after WW2. Sling is post war as well
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR HEADSPACE:
For 8mm Mauser, we inspect each barrel with standard "GO" and "NO-GO" 8mm Mauser gauges. However, it's good practice with any MG42 to verify headspace with the specific bolt, barrel, and type of ammo you are using. Headspace that is too short can result in very dangerous out-of-battery detonations.
