This a copy of the front piston from the early-war German MG42. Prior to the use of braided wire springs, round wire springs were used. These springs have a larger ID than the braided pattern allowing for a recuperator piston with a long and stout spring guide extension at the rear. The 4.7mm OD at the rear of this piston assembly is too large to be used with braided wire springs. As such, this early-pattern piston can only be use with the early-pattern round wire MG42 front recuperator springs also available on our site.
