Merkblatt 41/18 - Anleitung für die handhabung und Bedienung des M.G. 42 als leichtes und schweres Maschinengewehr - Instruction for the Handling and Operation of the M.G. 42 as a light and heavy Machinegun. The first edition of this manual was dated March 15, 1943. It was a good manual and did contain information that wasn't found in any of the other manuals, but the odd thing about it was that there were no pictures.
I recently found the 1944 edition of this same manual. The difference between the two was some updated text, and the addition of nine pictures. This revised manual is very informative about the operation, use, and care of the M.G. 42, and the early pictures show the muzzle brake (not the later flash hider). The muzzle brake is not mentioned in the text, but is shown in the pictures of the gun. This also contains troubleshooting tables, while the overshooting tables are in the Appendices. Paperback, 8.5"h x 5.5"w, 56 pages. An original wartime manual.
