- For use with BRP-made cocking pieces that are threaded 6-32. For installation and alignment of this part, it's best to tighten the mounting screws with the charging handle in the gun to make sure the spring tab properly engages the bolt catch lever and does not bind on the trigger pack mount pins.
Assembly and Function Notes:
Once aligned and securely fastened, bend inward slightly so inside "V" cut on tab engages spike on barrel jacket (see photos and link below). This prevents the handle from sliding back during firing when the bolt catch lever is moving up and down as the action is locking and unlocking.
It's important for the spring tab to positively engage both the bolt catch lever and the retaining 'spike' on the barrel jacket. The inside "V" cut on the spring tab must positively engage the 'spike' on the barrel jacket so the charging handle doe not slide backward when the bolt in cycling or in the rear position. Note the inward bend on the spring tab to ensure engagement.
